6th Grade Counselor

Ms. Shikennia Jones
I am very pleased to serve as the 6th Grade Counselor at Eagle’s Landing Middle School. I am a proud native of Atlanta, Georgia. I attended Morris Brown College for my undergraduate studies in Early Childhood Education. I began my career in Education in 2002 as an Elementary School Teacher in Dekalb County School District. I believe learning is a lifelong journey. I furthered my education by obtaining both my Masters and Educational Specialists Degrees along with Certification in Educational Leadership and Supervision. I became a School Counselor in 2006. As a School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students. I love serving in this role because it allows me to work with many children and their families on important skills. I truly believe it is vital for the adults of the future to learn how to communicate and get along with each other and solve difficult problems. As I work with our students, I hope to change the future positively. If assistance is needed beyond the brief solution-focused counseling model, other resources will be provided as needed.
The 6th graders will see me in a variety of settings this year as I work to meet their academic, personal/social, and career needs. I am available to meet individually with students, as well as providing guidance in the classroom. I will also be developing small groups throughout the year to help students become confident, successful learners. The ELMS Counseling Team also collaborates with teachers, administrators, and other school & community stakeholders to support and ensure our Scholars Soar!

7th Grade Counselor

Hello Eagle’s Landing Families,
My name is Monica Lee, and I’m thrilled to join Eagle’s Landing Middle School as the 7th Grade Counselor. Seventh grade is a time of major growth, and I’m here to support students socially, emotionally, and academically every step of the way.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from Georgia State University and a Master of Science in School Counseling from Mercer University. With a strong foundation in both social work and counseling, I take a whole-child approach, helping students build confidence, manage challenges, and develop life skills—including early college and career readiness.
Throughout the year, I’ll work with students individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings. I also value strong partnerships with families and staff to ensure every student feels supported, empowered, and ready to thrive.
I’m excited to be part of this journey with you!
If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to connect—please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and a Master's degree in Business Education. I am also a Certified Language Arts teacher. Before I entered the teaching profession, I was a corporate trainer and then went on to teach Medical Transcription for five years at Clayton State University as an adjunct instructor. One question that I often get from students and/or parents is, "What is a College and Career Readiness Coach? The role of a College and Career Readiness Coach is to help support students to ensure that students transition successfully and remain in school. Helping to ensure that students are prepared for high schoool as well as engaged in college and career readiness activities is a large part of the focus of the College and Career Readiness Coach. College and Career Readiness Coach services at Eagle's Landing Middle School primarily focus on providing student support in the areas of attendance, behavior, and academics. The following support may be provided based upon request:
- Small group study skills and/or organizational skills

The goal is for all ELMS students to be prepared for high school and to become focused on college and/or career goals as they move forward into their high school experience. As the College and Career Readiness Coach here at Eagle's Landing Middle School, it is my mission to help each student be successful in reaching their academic goals. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance to you or your student.Thank you, and I look forward to a wonderful school year!!!
