Arrival , Dismissal and Drop Offs
Arrival and Dismissal Times: 8:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- Our school day begins at 9am. The tardy bell rings at 9:05am If your scholar arrives after 9am, you must come inside to sign them in. We are committed to your scholars safety and want to ensure that they are escorted in the building and placed in our care by a responsible adult.
- In addition, the school day ends at 4pm and we need our scholars in class for bell-to-bell instruction. Please make every attempt to schedule appointments after school has ended for the day.
Check-Outs:
- We will end daily checkouts at 3:30pm so that we may prepare for a safe and orderly dismissal.
- The attendance office cannot take phone calls for student checkouts.
- Before 3:30 p.m., check-outs are marked as unexcused until a doctor/dentist note is submitted the first day a student returns.
-
A picture ID is required to check out ALL students. There will be NO exceptions. No one under the age of 18 (including siblings) may check out a student. ONLY persons listed on the emergency contact list will be able to checkout students. In extenuating circumstances, an email must be sent to the attendance Clerk: Shamara.Wilson@henry.k12.ga.us that includes the person's name who will be picking the student up, and the parent's telephone number along with the Parents Photo ID. The parent's telephone number must be in Infinite Campus in order for verification to take place over the phone. Identification is required by Eagle’s Landing Middle School before a student will be called out of class.
Drop Offs
- We appreciate your support in assisting us with maximizing the amount of time students spend in class. To that end, if you must drop items off for your scholar, please do so BEFORE 9:30am.

- The student assumes all risks in bringing such cell phones and other electronic devices onto school property or to school related functions.
- Use of a cell phone during a test will be considered cheating and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.
- Students are prohibited form using a cell phone to take photographs or record video at any time on school property. This includes taking photographs or video recordings in restrooms, locker room areas, etc.

Classroom Visit
Classroom Visits
At ELMS we welcome classroom parent observations. However, it’s extremely important that we follow the following guidelines:
We encourage, and welcome parental/guardian visits of classrooms. However, we do require a 24-hour notice. Parent/guardian should contact the front office to set up the visit. Proper identification is required before the visit can be arranged.
IT IS OUR WISH THAT ALL VISITORS PLEASE COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES TO PROTECT THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND PREVENT DISRUPTIONS THAT ARE DETRIMENTAL TO STUDENT LEARNING.
Parents must:
-
Please contact the main office at least 24 hours prior to your visit.
-
Parents will be notified by our school of approval the same day (visitations will not be allowed if the classroom selected for visitations is involved with testing).
- Visitors must complete our "Mandated Reporter" form prior to going to a classroom.
-
The day of visitation, the parent will be required to sign-in in the main office, fill out the Student’s Right to Confidentiality form and ask to see an administrator.
-
Visits should be limited to approximately 30 minutes per classroom.
-
Visitors should enter classrooms at the specified time.
-
Visitors are asked to sit in the rear of the classroom as far away from students as possible.
-
Visitors are asked not to carry on dialogue with the teacher or with any student during the visitation.
-
Visitors are asked to make sure that pagers and cell phones are turned off before entering the classroom.
-
At the completion of the visit, visitors are asked to return to the main office to sign out.
STUDENT’S RIGHT OF CONFIDENTIALITY
I understand that information relating to student achievement and behavior is confidential and is protected through state and federal regulation. As a result of my observation and/or conversations with specific children at ELMS, I may see or observe such information that relates to children that I am not here to observe. Failure to protect the right of confidentiality of all students may result in the denial of future requests to observe or converse with any child at ELMS. Furthermore, I understand that this is a time of observation and not a conference time with the teachers. If I need to discuss grades, conduct or any other matter, I will make an appointment through the front office.

Student Learning Devices
The EmpowerHCS program is designed to support the District’s vision by providing the digital resources and support necessary for student success. As a component of this program, all students have access to student learning devices. • Student Learning Devices:
- Student learning devices: refer to technology devices such as laptops, Chromebooks, and iPads. The District loans students a device to use and students may be expected to transport their assigned device to and from school each day. All student learning devices and accessories are the property of Henry County Schools. Students must comply with Policy IFBGA: Electronic Communications, and all other school policies that govern appropriate use of technology. For additional information on Terms and Conditions for the EmpowerHCS loaner program, refer to the HCS Digital Learning Device Guide located on the District’s website: https://www.henry.k12.ga.us/Page/110625.
- Technology Protection Coverage: All student learning devices are covered by a limited Accidental Protection Plan (ADP) to protect against most accidental drops, bumps, and structural failures incurred under normal operating conditions or handling. However, this plan excludes improper use/malintent/intentional damage. Examples of improper use/malintent/intentional damage may include damage to a device as a result of obvious intentional abuse by a user, a device that has been submerged in liquid (rendering it unrepairable), a crushed device (rendering it unrepairable), or a device otherwise damaged as a result of use outside the district’s Acceptable Use Policy. In addition, this plan does not cover stolen/lost devices, nor does it cover the replacement of accessories.
- If your scholar's device has been lost, the replacement cost is $300. If it has been stolen, a police report is required to be submitted to our IT team so that their replacement process can be initiated. If you have any questions regarding lost, damaged, or stolen devices, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Notice of Waiver to Transport Chromebook to and from School
Unless the parent/guardian requests otherwise, students transport their assigned Chromebook to and from school. If the parent/guardian wishes to waive the opportunity to transport the Chromebook to and from school, written notification must be submitted to the principal of the school within 30 days of the beginning of the school year or the date of enrollment. Regardless of parental consent or notification, to ensure an equitable learning experience, all students are required to use student learning devices to access, create, and share educational content at school.
Lunch Menu and Lunch Charges
Lunch Charges
- 1. Students may charge up to two times. No charges are permitted after the second.
- 2. If the first charge is older than 30 days, the student cannot charge again until the first lunch charge is paid. If a charge is needed after this time, we will provide an alternate meal that is free to the student (Sandwich, milk, and a fruit)
- 3. The last month of school (May) lunch charges are NOT permitted unless the parent notifies the School Lunch Manager prior to lunch time that they need for their child to charge lunch.
- 4. All lunch checks sent to the school should be written in blue or black ink, no gel pens please, with student I.D. number on the checks and a parent/guardian phone number.
